11. Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is the protocnl used by the Internet. A protocol is the agreed-upon format for transmission of data between two devices.
12. Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is also called the web address. Every web site has a unique URL.
13. Router is a networking device that forwards data packets between computer networks.
14. Web-browsing software is a program that lets you view pages, media etc on the Internet. There are many browsers. Some of them are Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome & Safari.
15. Search engines are special programs available as websites on the Internet. These can be used to search for particular information using keywords. Some search engines are Google, Yahoo, MSN, Search, altavista, lycos, alltheweb, metacrawler, dogpile.
16. E-mail is method of exchanging digital messages from an author to 1 or more recipients.
17. Global Positioning System (GPS) is a collection of 24 satellites that orbit the Earth. It helps us in navigating anywhere on earth.
