7. A Salaf is an early Muslim from the 1st three generations of proponents of Islam. The Salaf are the 1st few generations of Muslims, which included Muhammad's companions (the Sahabah) & the 1st generation (the Tabiun) & the 2nd generation (the Tabi al-Tabiin) of followers thereafter.

He is known to have organised the stoning of a woman who confessed to having committed adultery.

The Ahl-e-Hadith Movement is often described as being synonymous with Salafism.
